With kids running here and there, Amelia was running behind and feeding them. Then running back again in between the morsels to do her work. In between she used to pack.

Amelia sighed. Wish it was a little easier. Then she looked at Ryan and Aryan. Both were laughing and watching tv. She smiled. Sometimes its worth it.

She hears a loud crash. Ryan had again "accidently" broken something. She sighed again. Guessing stil worth it and laughed to herself before rising and shouting at Ryan for breaking things.

Amelia had taken a new house with Mathews, her husband. He was presently tending to his sick dad and Amelia was managing at home. 

She remembered the time when she was sick with 104 fever, shivering and crawling to the kitchen to make something for kids when her husband was sleeping.

She remembers the time she is running around looking after the interiors and work and kids and her mil called her a villain.

She was thinking about the time she was not able to stand and suffering with back pain for many months with no help.

A tear rolls down her cheeks. Alone and lonely. Always.

She felt that this is how it needs to be. Maybe a punishment for all the wrongs. She sighs again and wipes her tears.

She goes and hugs Aryan. "Love u ma", says Aryan. She smiles. Definitely worth living for.

Mathew calls. "Dad is really sick. Need to take him to hospital Amelia. I am really scared", he says

"It will be okay Mathew. Just take care of him there. I will manage everything here", responds Amelia, "Do you want to bring him here? We can take care".

"No, they like it here. They will not come", sighs Mathew

Amelia does not say anything else. She wanted to cry and talk about how bad her day was. How difficult it is with kids. How her health gets affected. How her emotional health is going to a toss. How she wants to cry and cry. Instead she responds with a smile, "Dont worry Mathew. It will be ok. Take him to hospital"

This has been the situation at the house for many years. She keeps it inside, hide the hurt inside, and then bursts and cries. But Mathew just looks at her crying and then turns to his laptop to work. At first, she used to be shocked. Then angry, then depressed and then got used to the situation at home. Thinking this is a punishment, that she can bear it and thats ok.

Sometimes she wonders what is this punishment for.

She starts packing. She has to shift to a new house in a week. So much to pack and so much to discard. Braving herself, she starts the job.

She wishes she had love at her home. Maybe the new house will be different. Maybe Mathew will start caring and loving me for who I am.

Feb 2:

The packers have come. Amelia's mom took the kids to feed and entertain them. Amelia's dad was helping amelia and mathew pack stuff. At 65 years, and a heart patient, he was trying his best to do what he can. But amelia could see the power draining and felt a tinge of guilt.

He had been helping Out during her married life always with the kids.

Without expecting anything. And it had drained him. Physically and emotionally.

I come back to the real world and start packing. At last i move to MY home . A smile appears on my face. 

After a lot of struggle, after 7 years of planning. After searching for the perfect job and landing in one.

After getting them into a school of our choice. After a lot of convincing her husband, she at last got her own house. Now kids can grow old in that. Amelia Was So happy.

Feb 10:

Amelia's Mom is sleeping in the bedroom. She got sick soon after they moved. Amelia was unpacking everything so that they could set up.

She started meeting people and volunteering to activities in the hope she can find some friends for her kids.

Mathew comes home rarely nowadays as his fathers health is deteriorating.

He is fed up and is more worried about his mom than his dad.

Amelia wonders sometimes what will happen if she is really sick. 

Will mathew behave the same way he does his father? The same way he is pissed off ln a few months and hoped he was dead? The same way he thinks that we need to concentrate on the people alive than the people who will be no more? Will he ditch her as well once she is sick?

Amelia knows one thing tor sure. Mathew Will ditch her once she is sick.

If he cant care for his Own blood father, not sure if he can care for her.

Aryan and Ryan went to school. so its a little peaceful. But suddenly the school calls. Amelia picks up.

"Maam your son Ryan fell down and had an accident. Looks ok, but it will be better if you take him?", says the operator

Amelia is too shocked to process. She calls her friend for help. She doesnt have her bike. Her friend goes to school and gets Ryan home. He is covered in bandage and crying.

Just then mathew comes home and they take him to hospital. He has a fracture

Mathew left to his moms house later. Amelia started looking after Ryan along with all of. the unpacking, office work and house work and kids, she was more Concerned about him being okay.

It took 21 days for Ryan to get better. 1 week later he started going to school. But Amelia had to be beside him for bathing, cleaning, feeding and everything. Could not sleep the whole 21 days as he has to keep the arm in one position for the whole night and she keeps waking up to check on him.

Mathew sleeps with Aryan in another room. Amelia feels bad for Ryan but some times Over stimulated and over stressed with all this. Mathew is stuck in his own problems and unless necesary they dont talk to each other.

After the kids go to school, Amelia bursts doWn into tears. 

Over stress,Over anxiety, depression ,loneliness. Everything is increasing

She is not able to manage.

March l:

And then enters Mathews sister, Pam. Pam came to take care of Mathews dad. Amelia had a good relationship with her. Mathew keeps complaining that his sister does nothing except talk. Amelia keeps quiet.

 Because she knows that in the past, Pam had called her many things, put fights in between them, and talks bad about her behind her back. So she doesnt offer any opinion.

Amelia is a manager in a big firm. She is the most loving and caring person in her friends. She is a very attached mother. But when it comes to Mathew, she doesnt feel like she was seen. She was nothing much than a company to him in the house. 

A listening board. An emotional board he could vent and be okay.

Mar 12:

Amelia's grandmother expired. Mathew came home to look after the kids.

AMelia went to home town. She was crying all the way there and back. She came home expecting some emotional support. But Mathew left as soon as she came. He asked her how her mom was. 

Amelia was saying,"Can you please sit for Sometime ". "I have to go meet my mom" says Mathew and takes off.

Amelia hugs her pillow and keeps crying for the loss. Sometimes she wonders what is she doing in this lifeless relationship. She remembers the time when she had to goto hospitals alone. She remembers all the fights that happened in all the special occasions.

She remembers how she could not think of one moment where she was emotionally suffering and Mathew was there by her side supporting her.

Tears roll down her face. She looks up into the sky, "see grandma, now you see right. How i am feeling and how lonely it is not to be loved or respected? You never saw it when you were alive. Do you see now? what do you want to do about it? What can i do? nothing right?"

She cries herself to sleep.

Mar 15th:

Fil was in the hospital nearby Amelia's house. Mathew was there with his mom. Amelia asked if they wanted to Come home to rest. Mil came home and slept. In the morning, mathew went off to hospital. Mil woke around 10 am.

Amelia was in a meeting. She came inside and asked Amelia to prepare coffee. Amelia went with her earphones still on and prepared and qave to mil.

After that she went and prepared breakfast for her mil and then gave her juice.

2pm meeting was most Critical. Amelia didnt have lunch. She had to get the kids from bus. The kids came on thier oWn and amelia was rushing off to a meeting

when her mil came and asked her to give lunch for her. Amelia looked at her. She told mil that everything is prepared and kept in kitchen. Can she please go and put it in plate as she had a meeting and didnt have lunch still because of that. Mil said no, amelia has to put in a plate and give, Amelia got upset and went and put rice in a plate.

Mathews mom was not concerned about fil at all. Amelia felt bad for her fil. Mathew came home. The instant he set foot, Amelia's mom started shedding tears as to how she was missing his dad and she wanted to go to hospital and how she cudnt do anything whole day.

Amelia was shocked. Till then, she was ok. she never even spoke of going to hospital. Not even whether Mathew had had breakfast. Amelia was getting so tensed about Mathew not having breakfast. Mil didnt even ask once. Amelia decided not to interfere.

Mathew started feeling very bad for his mom and started wishing his father was dead. Amelia wanted to close her ears. But she didnt say anything.

The next day when Mathew went to hospital without breakfast, Amelia packed his lunch and took it to him. She visited fil. HiS Sister was there. She gave the lunch to both and hurried back to work from home

Mar l7th:

Mathew calls up asking to come visit with the kids for the weekend as his

S1Ster and sister kids are there. Amelia takes her kids after swiming

ClasS and starts arOund 1lam. But due to traffic she reaches around 2pm.

Botn S1sters already have the looks as to why is she reaching so late.

Amelia fed the kids and ate a little.She kept quiet. She was on fastina

for a few saturdays and mondays. She went down to check on her father in

law. The elder sister forcefully asked amelia to feed her father in law.

Amelia did. The way the older sister was acting, Arnelia felt

uncomfortable.

She asked Mathew if she can qO to temple. Mathew took her, the kids,

sisters kids and Amelia to temple. He wanted to feed the kids chaat after

that. Amelia called up the sisters to ask as to what chaat they would

like. She took that for them. They started home. Going, coming, chaat,

temple was done in an hour.

After coming, nobody spoke much. She kept quiet. And then she went and

spoke to them and mìl. Tried to speak to them and then they started

speaking.

She came home that night along with Mathew as Ryan had exams and there

was holi on monday. She had participated in the volunteering activities

as she wanted to meet people and check for moms/dads who had kids which

He was shouting as to hoW she was not helping out much and how she came

one day and then left for temple for 4 hours. How she had not supported

thier family. HOw Amelia didnt give her mil even a saree. Amelia didnt

even know her mil wanted a saree.

Ame lia was shocked. she and mathew started fighting. Mathew started

blaming Amelia a lot with lots of disrespectful behaviour and with hatred

in his voice.

Amelia could not take it anymore. She called her dad and explained. Her

dad spoke to Mathew and convinced him that Amelia was doing as much as

she can.

and how it was not 4 hours for the temple. she felt ashamed that she had

to explain going to temple with her husband also. She felt disqusted that

her husband didnt support her with his family. She felt depressed that

the first blame and hatred was shown to her when all she did was Support

him. Always. Inspite of her emotional and physical well being

Mathew left for office conyinced that Amelia had done everyhting she

Could. And then when he came home, his moQd changed, Amelia got a doub E

Amelia and mathew started fiqhnting again. Ameliia was tired. This is what

she got for taking care of the family fOr 30 many years. This is what she

got for being respectful towards his sisters. This is what she got for

supporting them even though she was totally phsyically not fit enough to

handle.

She decided to stay quiet and suffer in silence for another 20 years. She

nderstood Mathew will never be a loving husband, he will never respect

her, he will never support her, he will not be there by her side in

sickness and health, so she decided to just keep it inside and stay

quiet.

Mar 30:

Amel ia didnt want to go to Mathews house anymore where they baçk stabbed

her, put fights with her husband and now it was hell for her. ut she

realized fil was sick and that the kids needed to see hím . She tookthe

kids and went to his home.

His sisters kìds were there and so Ryan and Aryan were happy. Ame lia sat

quietly. Literally never speaking a word. She sat down.

Pam, Mathew and the other sister went about thier daily work, talking,

comp laining and taking care of thier dad. Mathew saw that Arne lia was

alone and lonely, but he decided not to do anything. Amelia was bursting

inside but she made a promise to herself that she wOuld not cry. She sat

silently answering questions they asked. She went down to see her fil,

the only person where there was a little respect left for her. She wanted

to break down but she didnt.

She came back up. Her mouth had closed shut the whole day without talking

to anyone or opening her mouth. But nobody cared. This is the family she

was supporting. This is the husband she was taking care of.

She messaged Mathew that she will be leaving that day to home. At night,

she took the kids and left.

Apr 2:

Mathews dad expired. He broke down. Amelia was there to support. She

dropped a mail to her office. Took the kids and went to his home. Mil

cried for a min and then she was complaining about the food, the house

keys and asking everyone to take care of things. Does she have any affect

or was she glad that she was free at last?

Amelià told sorry tO Mathews sisters even though there was nothing trom

her Side. She took care of his sisters kids, feeding them, taking care of

all the activities, rituals and Mathew.

night too after thier travel. Amelia felt bad. But she kept quiet

All the rituals were done. Mathew was sitting in the hall. AMelia asked

him if he wanted to come out. Mathew said no. Amelia went by herself.

Then ma thew and amelia together went to some shop. Amelia told him that

she felt bad that Mathew didnt invite Amelias parents to stay for the

night. Mathew blasted. Very badly. And started walking away. Amelia

started running behind him in the street asking him to wait, explainiag

him to please listen. It is not how you think.

But Mathew was angry. He left AMe lia, he was walking away shouting at

her. People started looking at Amelia. She felt embarassed. She felt

depressed. Still she went behind Mathew asking him to wait.

In the qround floor, Ame lia started crying badly. She said that it was

only à small thing she felt which was in no conparison with what he was

feeling. She just wanted to express. Mathew was silent sttanding looking

at her as he usually does. Without only one enotion. Anger. He didnt sit.

Amelia said, "is this how it is going ot be for the rest of Our Iife?

with us not expressing anything at al? With us always fighting2". Mathew

said yes. He had hatred in his eyes.

2 min later they went to the second flO0r where his mom and sisters were.

Amelia sat ont he sofa, trying to smile when she had totally been broken

and destrOyed inside. trying to fight away tears. Mathew sat down and he

started asking very Sweetly and with care, "Ame lia, will you have lunch?

Or should We order outside", he said smiling.

Amelia felt scared. IS this what is called emotional manipulation? r is

this love? This is what respect is for each other?

And at that instant, her wholelife flashed before Amelias eyeS.

Everything she endured thinking it was love and respect which Mathew

Coulo not express. Thinking he was bought up in such a way that he didnt

know anything, Thinking he loved Amelia but that is how he showed.

And slowly, the thin viel covering her

eyes fell off. She could see the

She and mathew were qoing home in the car that day. Afterreaching she

Amelia broke down. They slept in separate rooms . Whole night she cried.

For the lies that were there for 16 years. For the life that hse gave to

Mathew. For the health she sacrificed. For the love that was

never

returned.

She cried till she could do it anymore. She stood near the balcony.

Amelias parents were there for kids. She felt lonely. She felt depressed.

She felt like dying. And then she saw the balcony. 9 floors high. She

looked down. She held the railing..

And then she noticed the thread that was put on the balcony. She couldnt

die as

there was a complete thread. And then she thOught of her parents. How

they would be broken. Not her kids, not mathew, not anyone, but her

parents and brother. Who would be heartbroken.

She went inside and locked herself and cried the whole day.

April 12th:

40th bday. At her home. She didnt want to be in Mathews home anymore.

Alone at home. She was blank. Getting up, she didnt want to eat anything.

She was thìnking, over thinking, again thinking. Why did it turn out this

way. She loved Mathews. She wanted him to be happy. She wanted the kids

to be happy. She wanted her parents to be happy. She wanted to be happy

with Mathews family and sisters. She wanted to be liked by everyone. she

did more than she could and strained herself So that everybody WOuld be

happy.

But turning back, she realized she forgot about herself. Keeping herself

happy, keeping her emotional health good. Keeping her physical strength

good.

She slept off thinking. Time flew by so fast. and a moment later it Nas

midnight. She had to go back tomorrow for the 13th day ritual. She didnt

know what 1ife would be like. But she had to support Mathew. She cannot

think about herself now.

April 14:

The rituals were over. All of Mathews friends and relatives had been so

good to her. They saw the amount of hard work she put in and were good.

After the rituals, Mathew, Amelia and the kids came back home. Mathew

left his nom at her place and was back.

One week and then Aryan had hi3 exam. It was the weekend and Ame lia was

Aryan went into the center. Ryan and Amelia waited for around 2 hOurs and

hard for the exam. She informed Mathew and took them to the nall. By the

time they reached home, it was very late. The kids lept

off.

April 21:

In the morning, Mathew was angry. As usual. Amelia had logged into her

COmputer as she was tenSed that there was an iSsue in her work and she

forgot to send her boss an email. Mathew said, "Go qreet my mom" Amelia

said Sure, in a minute. And he got pissed and started fighting saying she

reached late and now she wont greet his mom too. Amelia qot angry. She

locked her laptop. She literally was doing everything but the only thing

Mathew was Concerned about was how his mom felt.

She didnt talk back. She went and greeted her ni l and cane back. She was

seethìng inside. But she didnt talk. Mathew wa3 not Concerned for the

kids, for her. He was only Concerned about how he was. Always. She kept

quiet.

Kìds had swìmming that day. Ame lia wa3 getting them ready and packing the

bag. the bag was bullky as it was Aryanshn first 3wimning clas3. She had to

take them in bike. She was searching for his cap. Mathew was checking his

laptop and asked Amelia to take his mom too tO swimming pool. Ame lia

said, "Mathew, its 4pm. We are already late. I cant find his cap too. And

i dont knoW how to drive with mil sitting sideways with luggage and kids

in a bike. Can you please take her and Come ? Mathew didnt speak.

Ame lia and the kids were still searching. When at last Ame lia started

asking Mathew tO search, he silently got up and gave it. Ame lia was

aghast. He knew it the whole time.

Amelia took the kids and went to swimminq pool.She was anqry. She didnt

want to talk. Mathew anyways was not speaking to her these days except

for formal language bits. But she wanted to concentrate on Aryans first

class. She started cheering him.

Mil also came and sat. Amelia said hi and went aqain to Aryan. After the

Class, she didnt know how to take mil and qo. She called mathewS and

waited for 20 min, He didnt pick the call. Ryân and Aryan were shivering

and wWere very hungry, They started pesteing Ame lia to take them home.

Amelia got tensed and started messaging Mathews and calling him again and

again. Then she saw MathewS walking up with his phone in pocket.

Amelia almost shouted, "I have been calling you

so many times. Nhy are

you not picking up?"

Amelia left. She was hurt. She felt that Mathews relationship had reached

its peak and this is how her life is going to be. They were not talking

much to each other. Only as roommates, only if anything necessary, Mathew

reached out. Else it was his mom, sisters or the kids.

Amelia felt more lonelier than ever. But she kept it inside. She was used

to the feeling but it was qetting more unbearable. Nothing she can do.

Just bear it.

Now a days she went to thne temple daily. She did not have anyone to talk

to. She wanted to talk to soneone but COuld not talk to people as nobody

WOuld understand. She was sharing with God. Only one left to talk to.

But then she decided to call her friends. She Cried so much. Her friends,

Diana and Harrier qot scared. They thought something will happen to

Amel ia.

Even though Harrier s kid was Sick With cancer and just got okay,

even though both were struggling with thier issues, they decided to come

and be there for her in this tough time.

They immediately booked the ticket3 to Arme lias place in 4 days.

April 26:

Amelia told mathew that her friends were coming the previous day and that

she Nill take the kids and spend with them for 2 days. Mathew Was

shocked. But he said ok. Ame lia took the kids and went in the evening.

One look at her friends, she put her head down. After making the kids

play, Ame lia broke down. She didnt have anyone to talk to, she didnt have

any emotional Connection and broke down.

Mathew started calling her saying his mom was missing the kids. It was

Only 2 hours since Amelia left home. She thought about how her mil used

to come home twice in a year and used to leave whenever there was an

emergency, and how they were never there for her and kids.

She didnt say anything. Mathew again started blaming Amelia and fighting .

Amelia listened and listened and fought. But she knew it was getting

broken to a limit where it would not be normal for her.

2 days her friends took care of the kids and at night consoled her and

asked her to be strong. They saw the shape Ame lia was in, the way she was

depressed and they Were very concerned. Amelia didnt have a fun time. She

Was 3cared to go back. She was scared as to what Mathew Will again fund

reasons tO fight and blame. She saw the hatred in Mathews eyes and she

felt devastated.

She Went back home. There were many calls from Mathew and messages.

Amelia did not want to reply anymore. She felt so heartbroken that the

then she looked at her kids. And then threw the thought out of her mind.

concerned or bothered by her death.

The only people who will suffer are the kids and parents and her brother.

She put that thought to rest. She decided to become strong for them. She

silent. She decided not to fight.

April 30:

Nothing was ok at home. Mathew left his mother in his home and came to

Ame lia. He was not talking. Amelia COuld see the hatred in his eyes. He

left to office. She was not doing go0d. She Was scared. Very scared. She

Was trying hard not to fall apart. She was trying not to be broken and be

there for MatheW. Maybe he will be okay today evening.

still not picking up. How dare you. You have no respect. You are

impossible. ", he started shouting at one go with kids in the other room.

Amelias heart was breaking inside, piece by piece. Her heart was going a

100 times faster. She kept typing in her laptop, her hands almost

shivering . But she kept a calm face and did not react. She tried to say

that she had a call, but Mathew was not liistening, he was shouting at the

top of her voice. Shouting to drown down her voice. Shouting and breaking

her heart.

After 5 min of shouting, he left and went to the kids and sweetly asked

them if they wantted a drink. And then went and made himself a cold drink

and sat on the sofa scrolling through his phone.

Amelia didnt cry. She took her phone and locked the door and went to the

stairs.

She broke down. Again and again. And again. She cried till her heart

could not take it. She cried till her heart was so tight and her eyes so

dry. she cried till she started shivering. Then she lied down on the

stairs. She could not take it anymore. She wanted to leave. She wanted to

leave Mathew. She wanted to leave and never come back.

She got up and went inside as the kids had football and basketball that

day. She kept her face calm but tears had strained on her face. Not that

She dropped them at the class and came near, the swimming pool.

She called her brother but she could not talk. Words did not come out of
